An American client who came to Korea as a tourist was on appeal for the rape of an American college student when Brandon Kim got the case. And thhe client was in Seoul detention center. He had already been sentenced to three years in prison at the first trial but filed an appeal. Brandon Kim met the student at the detention center and planned for the trial.
Two victims, also Americans, had already returned to the U.S. after their exchange student term had ended. Brandon Kim communicated with the victims via email and WhatsApp, and eventually reached a settlement for a total of $30,000. The client who was in the detention center was finally given a suspended sentence and was freed.
Since the defendant(client) was a foreigner, he can't be freed to leave the detention center immediately even if he was sentenced to probation. But he moves to the immigration center in Pyeongtaek and be held there for a few days before purchasing a plane ticket to go back to his home country. Brandon Kim visited the defendant after he was moved to the immigration office and managed his journey back to the United States. The defendant was very grateful to Brandon Kim and went back to his home country safely.
